Unmitigated it means, “not diminished or moderated in intensity or severity; unrelieved,” as in the unmitigated disaster just marches on.
It might seem odd, this being a biology blog and all, that I avoid writing very much about the unfolding public health disaster, specifically the vaccine. If you are interested in such things, I highly recommend alicespringstomind. There you will find dozens of calm and well reasoned posts and numerous sensible links for you to research to your heart’s content. I give it four stars, a consistently admirable effort.
I remain unvaxxed.
I continue to read the research, the latest information, but for the most part I am just heartbroken, without words, and unable to formulate my thoughts properly. It’s awful, tortuous perhaps, to know what is happening and to be completely powerless to do anything to prevent it. I can’t even get the people I care about to listen to me or even discuss it. Most of them are now heavily vaxxed and boosted, and coming down with covid.
If repeated bouts of covid is the only harm they come to, I will be exceedingly grateful.
When we recently went and set up the vaccine centers for babies and small children here where I live, I spent 3 days in bed, simply unable to face the world anymore. So no, I am not starting to “respect the science” or softening my position, in fact the precise opposite. I’m just trying to stay sane and focus on things that aren’t so painful to watch.
It can also get very isolating, very lonely. There is this huge, pink elephant standing between me and most other people, this hidden truth that can’t be spoken of. Everything is fine, just fine, but of course it isn’t fine at all. I’ve never done well with that sort of thing, the tension of pretending always starts to makes my face hurt.
I try to remind myself that the human body is wonderfully and fearfully made. Just because I can see the potential worst case scenario, doesn’t mean there aren’t more positive variables I’ve missed. As Monty Python so delightfully sang, “always look on the bright side of life.”

Before the scotus ruling slapping the Biden Admin for requiring private companies to require their employees be vaxxed for covid or lose their jobs… we had to get vaxxed or face the loss of our jobs. Tough decision but we did it. Hated that a government forced a vax for what is essentially the flu… but we did it. Crazy the lies and propaganda that have ruled since the “Coup of Nov 2020”.

Yes, those mandates were an abomination, a huge civil rights violation, and thankfully the Supreme Court agreed. Unfortunately the wheels of justice turn slowly and many people were forced to chose between the vaxx or their jobs.
In my state it continues somewhat because our governor is a tyrant. So we’re having huge labor shortages because many people refused to comply and lost their jobs, especially in government. Now nothing works properly, the dump has been closed down, the snow didn’t get cleared off the roads this winter, it takes hours to get the power turned back on when a branch hits the lines.

22 years ago the Financial Fitness guru (guress) tragically died in a plane crash. Her theme song on her radio show was Monty Python’s Always Look On The Bright Side of Life. I remember thinking she seemed to be unaware of how nihilistic the lyrics to the song were, especially in the context of the movie “Life of Brian.”
As for me, I’m black pilled when it comes to this world, and white pilled regarding eternity. I take this present aeon for what it is, and I always look on the bright side of eternity.

I am pleased you are white pilled about eternity. You just can’t go wrong with Jesus.
It really is a nihilistic song, but sometimes I like to read the Bible with a bit of that same Monty Python spirit going on. The Bible really can be kind of swashbuckling, sardonic, and a bit humorous, all at the same time. I used to know this guy who would read us a passage and then deadpan, “welp, it is what it is.” Used to make me laugh.

I am with you, Gabrielle. Psalm 91 in the early days of Covid fear turned me completely around.
No vax, no Covid tests. I did have a two day sneezing runny nose in the spring of this year. After that, I had another three month follow-up to colon cancer surgery two years ago and I had the check for antibodies.
I had antibodies. I’m smiling.
Once my oncologist ( who insisted I should get the vaccine)told me my D3 was a little high in my blood test.
I said, “Could being in the sun a lot cause that?”
“Yes, it could,” He replied.
“I heard that D3 was a pretty good defense against Covid. Is that right?”
He said,”Yes. But you should still get vaccinated.”
I did not.
I feel the same sorrow for the dangerous vaccination and masking of the children.

Amen! Praise the Lord for your good health, Randy! God is so good. I’m sure all that sunlight He arranged for you to soak up has certainly helped.
Here where I live it gets pretty dark and gloomy in the winter, so the native people would eat a lot of salmon and cod liver oil. Lo and behold all these years later we learn that if you don’t have sunlight that’s the next best thing. I find it just amazing that in an area so lacking vitamin D, God provided this abundant alternative source.

There’s a good reason why The Sunshine State (aka Florida) had relatively low mortality from covid, despite its failure to impose draconian lockdowns and mask mandates, and despite its large elderly population.

Right?! It really could be the sunshine! What kind of makes me chuckle a bit wryly, some of the lowest rates of death are in the poorest places in the world, Haiti, parts of Africa, some of India. So ironic how not having “access to healthcare,” has dramatically improved survival rates.

In many countries in Africa the people routinely use ivermectin to treat/prevent malaria, so that gave them an advantage when it came to covid. There is also very little obesity in those countries. Most people don’t own cars and walking is the usual form of transportation for many of them.

Yep, so true! In many countries you can just buy meds over the counter that have been needlessly banned and censored in America. Shoot, I don’t even know if you could hurt yourself with ivermectin? Diarrhea and vomiting perhaps? Meanwhile too much Tylenol will flat out kill you. So we aren’t being governed by “science” at all.

I still have unopened bottles of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine on my closet shelf. I got them last winter because I wanted to be prepared. I had a really bad cold in February and was tempted to open the bottles and take the pills, but I decided to go to the clinic for a test first, and it came back negative. I learned too late that if you use a nasal irrigator, you increase your risk of a false negative, because it removes the evidence of the infection. Dang! Why didn’t someone tell me sooner? So I STILL don’t know if I’ve had the dreaded covid yet. I’m almost 68 and I figure I’m gonna get it eventually (if I haven’t had it yet) so I guess I’ll hang onto my ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine…

If I were in charge, I would have been testing people for antibodies just to put their minds at rest! Many people have already had covid, so light and easy it was just a cold and they didn’t even realize they had it. Some people may have already developed resistance to covid just from having had a previous flu virus.
I also would have been telling people about all those who have survived, thrived even. Instead they scare us with tales of ventilators and death, never even mentioning that for every one of those there are five hundred others who had no complications whatsoever, and didn’t even require hospitalization.

The worst case would be mass infertility. We will see about that. it’s kind of difficult to pinpoint when the current twenty somethings don’t want kids. The second worst case is happening. Death rates are up overall and young people are stroking out and having heart attacks. There’s an elephant already in the room nobody in the media will talk about.

So true, Jill. Death rates are up overall and the media is not talking about it. Also, the cultural narrative is now trying to suggest that it’s perfectly natural for young people to have strokes, blood clots, and heart attacks. It’s maddening because those narratives just take on a mind of their own and people soon believe it’s always been like this.
There is some clear evidence that indicates fertility is already being impacted, but what really concerns me is that there seems to be some evidence coming out that the vaxx changes the dna in our liver within a few hours. We were told repeatedly that couldn’t happen. So if this research is confirmed, it means we’re now going to be passing the genetic changes down to the next generation.

I have trusted God since this whole mess started and I am not and will not ever be vaxxed and my man is the same. We have not had and my daughter because of her job was vaxxed and boosted and she got COVID and it knocked her down for a little more than a month. I am grateful that my family understands and doesn’t give me crap because I refuse it.
The whole vaxxing kids breaks my heart because I know so many parents will do it like the deaf, dumb, and blind sheep they are following the left right over the cliff edge. Just as so many have bought into the ideology of the alphabet people and wanting to transition young children and teens.
I don’t recognize this world I was born into 60 years ago and I really want to go home someday soon actually I want the church to go home soon. I trust Jesus though that He knows what He is doing keeping us here for now.

Good for you, stay strong! You have some experience with the medical system, already. They’re not all bad, but it isn’t all good either. You really have to do some research, make your own decisions, and find a good doctor.
It really helps to have a husband who is with you on this, too! I’m laughing, when this all first happened, hubby and I were trying to figure out how to tell each other weren’t playing the game, we weren’t complying. He thought I would be against him and try to pressure him to get the vaxx and I thought the same. Praise the Lord for misplaced fears!
I don’t know why I get stressed out about things in this world. Our homecoming is going to be just glorious. Perhaps we’ll tell stories and laugh at how silly and insignificant all our fears in this life were. 🙂

I will and I even told my doctors the first time they asked me don’t ask again. My Cardiologist made the mistake of asking me a second time and I looked at him and said “Dude seriously what did I tell you last time?” He looked at me and said “Did you just call me Dude?” and I said “Yes I did because you don’t listen very well.” He laughed and so did and actually he is a very cool doctor one of my best with a great sense of humor.
Me and my man were the same when things first went down he was worried about me because I am immune compromised, but as I told him I trust God wholeheartedly and when my time comes no shot and no doctor will stop it. He said he could live with that and he didn’t want it either and I told him I could live with that.
I agree praise the Lord and I am sure sometimes He just shakes His head at our antics here. We get stressed because we are human and we sometimes momentarily forget to whom we belong. I hope we get to tell stories cause I have some whoppers to share in that glorious place. I tell people if I have a guardian angel by the time I leave this earth he will be in counseling for the rest of eternity I wonder if God will let me make him brownies?

What boggles my mind is the way some mothers of young children who had refused to vaccinate their kids against measles, mumps, rubella, and chicken pox went ahead and made their kids take the Fauci Ouchie. Thanks, government jackasses, for lying to us so persistently and persuasively about the dangers of covid (something from which no healthy child has ever died).

Sheesh, I hear you! The odd behavior of many anti-vaxx moms really surprised me. One day I was trying, to no avail, to encourage people to trust in shots that have been demonstrated to be safe and reliable, and the next day they’re just injecting themselves with experimental substances and getting Fauci’s picture tattooed on their bodies.

Oh I hear you in the 80’s when my kids were small there were so many parents that would not get those vaccines for their children and I am sure these people are pushing their kids to get the grandchildren the Fauci Ouchie. I seriously fear what that vax is going to do to young children especially immune compromised children. The world has turned upside down and reminds me of what the Bible says about calling bad good and good bad we are there right now.

My granddaughter works for a Doctor’s office that required the vaccine AND booster for their insurance purposes and she was so reluctant but it’s a good job and she helps a lot of people. However, she was just pregnant when she got it and she ended up loosing the baby after the booster and yes, she ended up getting COVID despite the shots! I have my own opinion and won’t debate with anyone, but like you Sis, my wife and I are unvaxxed and we just haven’t had any problems. Of course, we don’t even get the flu shots at our ages. Yeah we have health issues, some severe, but why exacerbate a problem that we aren’t having. My biggest issue and I do a lot of praying for others, is the fear and doubt that takes the place of FAITH because of what people see going on around them. If faith is trusting in what we DON’T see, why are we fearing what we can’t see and especially if we belong to the Lord. Anyway, Sis, thanks for your insights, courage and following the Holy Spirit no matter what!! God Bless!

Thank you for your kind words. We really do need to trust in the Lord and to try to see things with our spiritual eyes, rather than our material ones. I am so sorry your granddaughter lost the baby. That is a great sadness.
I think life is really precious and death should be delayed and avoided as long as possible, but this whole thing has really forced me to get my own spiritual life in order. Churches shutting down, people being scared of dying, scared even of hugging each other, is so not what we believe, not what we preach, not what our Bibles say. No judgement, I’m just really grateful for the opportunity to confront some of my own doubts and fears and to grow closer to the Lord in the process.

From day one I said it was NEVER about the vax/ but mass control and conditioning/ that’s another story. The evil is monstrous.
Then again I said the same thing about the bar code on bread. Scanners, codes, while business necessary nowadays, are a small part in the big picture.
This acceptance by the masses, designed to alienate once friends, will only get worse. Wait until the gestapo run by UN puts in prison they who refuse the vax, oops I mean the ‘nice and easy Mark.’
The conditioning is not even subtle anymore. Truth be told, they who resist will be called ‘anti science’ and an impediment to ‘world progress,’

LOL! That used to be my very complaint, “this evil is monstrous,” until someone taught me that I should thank the Lord that the evil is so monstrous! Partly because if it were any softer I might not be able to see it, and partly because gratitude makes the demons faint and it’s just fun to watch them fall over.
Amen, I’m with you, Colorstorm, all these scanners, codes, and vaxx passes are downright Biblical. Also, even on the secular side of things, nothing good has ever come from someone demanding, “papers please.” That’s always been a clarion call for human disaster.

Sorry I missed this one, I’ve been blissfully off line vacationing in the Grand Teton area. You are right though, the vaccines have been an unmitigated disaster. In fact I used just those same words this morning when discussing them with my husband.
Where and how this all ends I just do not know but it will not be good in the near term. Our government will try and blame those like you and me (the unwashed, unvaccinated) for the hordes of adverse events and sudden deaths which are happening. The narrative has broken though and so many people can see clearly what’s happening that my hope is a new era of reform and accountability will come in to play.
