“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” -Galatians 5:22-23
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
-John 13:35

Thanks,Wally. There was some talk of spiritual gifts recently and I just kept thinking, the real miracles are in the fruit of the spirit! We people are not, by our own nature, kind, loving, and filled with joy. So when we receive it and get it right, amen, God is good indeed. 🙂

Yes, he is. And yes, our nature pretty much stinks. I agree about what you said on the real miracle for sure. Spiritual gifts are real, but as Paul pointed out, as useless as clanging symbols without love.

Ha! I just replied to your comment at my blog and mentioned the “fruits and nuts” voters in my state. Now…this is the REAL and GENUINE fruit – Fruit of the Spirit!
Many Christians are going through periods of longsuffering; from minor persecutions to major ones – some of which result in death. Christ knows His own and tells us not to worry. Why? Because despite tribulation in this fallen existence, He has overcome the world! So, no matter what happens, we are to “take heart.”
When we are weak, He is strong! We can focus on the fruit of faith, meekness and temperance which allows us to still enjoy love, joy, peace, gentleness and goodness!
God’s Word is the ultimate Wisdom.

And we can only produce this fruit with the Spirit’s help, minute by minute by minute, yes?

Yes! LOL, sometimes it really is minute by minute, but for many it can become second nature. I think we sometimes take these things for granted, especially when we’re so used to seeing them.

Love how you arranged both verses next to each other. Apologists must never forget the evidence of the faith from the fruit of the Spirit.

I have a plaque w/ this verse hanging in my kitchen. The plaque has lovely images of fruit which strike me as funny, since I have always wanted concrete evidence of spiritual “fruit” — as if I could prop love or peace on the table, next to the salt. Have a blessed Thanksgiving! ❤
