So Nightwind has PSA, A PLEASE READ AND SHARE (ESPECIALLY TEXAS READERS) about a young girl who was murdered about 38 years ago near Huntsville, Texas. Click the link to get the full details and the photos of what she may have looked like.
Somewhere there’s a family that needs closure, perhaps some law enforcement, too. Nobody ever wants to see a child left as a, “Walker County Jane Doe.” The case has apparently be reopened, so that’s a good thing.
It’s a really sad story. She and I are about the same age and we seem to have had some similar troubles in our early lives. So pass the info around and if you know anything, contact someone. Nightwind has a phone number to call.
I just wanted to say we actually have a lot of retired cops where I live and some of them have taken up local cold cases that have long been unsolved. A few have actually been solved thanks to their work. I just want to say, I sure do appreciate those guys. They remind me that there are people in the world who actually do care.
I’ve never been to Texas and I don’t know this girl, but I do know there are people who care. Let’s pass it around and try to help them give her a name. Somebody knew her, she’s somebody’s missing child.

Thank you for posting that. With the Internet and new forensic technology, a lot of these cases are getting resolved. Just to illustrate that these efforts pay off, one of the first cases resolved in 2015 was from a cold case going back to 1974:

They not only identified the victim, but they caught the suspect, who was in prison for another crime. They also linked him to another murder that the police had previously blamed on the Green River Killer.
The story of WCJD resonated with me too. I’m also about the same age and originally from the same general area. A lot of the girls I used to know and hang out with back in the ‘Old Neighborhood’ were just like her.

Tragically, she is not the only such child.

Wow thanks for bringing to our attention how there are some retired detectives that pick up cold case and have even solved them; something tells me its more than a job for them, for its an issue of closure and justice.

I know of several such retired police (including retired FBI) and many of them are volunteers with the private organizations I mentioned. It is more than a job for them, it’s an issue of principle. One recent case solved from 1981, the girl’s mother never moved or even changed her phone number in 37 years, hoping that her daughter would come home.

It’s for the victims and families that we do this. Likely the perpetrators of some of these cases are long dead, but I don’t doubt that they meet justice before Another Judge for Whom there’s no such thing as a ‘cold case’.

I wonder if he took WCJD’s clothes or bra and panties as a souvenir? that happens sometimes.
