There are a bajillion things I’d really like to write about, but the noise, the chattering class, and the general spirit of anxiety hovering about us is just too much right now.
All this noise is drowning out my thoughts and I can hardly get a word in edgewise amidst all the shrieking.
Tuesday approaches, election day, and we’ve turned up the heat, exponentially. I refuse to play that game, seriously. What game? The anxiety game. The excitement game. The drama game.
Our faith actually requires some stillness, some peace, some quiet. I mean you can have great faith in the midst of chaos, in the midst of battle, even! I’m just saying, unless you are a teen ager, trying to study His word, trying to hear the Lord, with the music blaring in the background, is not so easy.
I love how the Lord says “Be still and know that I am.” If you’ve ever been a parent you probably get that. There are often lots of, “settle down, be quiet, be still” going on. “I can’t read you this story if you don’t stop talking.“
All will be well, things will settle down. I’m just saying, yes, I hear all the noise.

IB you must be awake very early, or you scheduled this post. I was looking for some Quiet Riot lol- I definitely feel it. They’re boarding up the Pottery Barn here, which to me, indicates an expectation, and they are preparing for trouble. It’s going to be an interesting week. I am abiding in His Love.

Scheduled, but everyone is up an hour earlier since we changed the clocks. 🙂
Those boarded up windows really are disturbing, but the other day I thought, “wow, that’s faith!” We’re pretty good at preparing for the worst, getting ready for all the bad things we can’t see and don’t know if they are coming. How amazing it would be if we could plan and prepare to receive the best with the same kind of faith.

I suspect it’s cheaper now than waiting for emergency service and it’s all good if nothing happens

Well said. I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job of tuning this out, but it’s getting harder and harder.

Me too! We watched “Daredevil” the other day. He’s a blind superhero with heightened senses who has to sleep in an isolation chamber to drown out all the noise. I totally empathized. 🙂

Im finding I have a peace within all of this— that King Cyrus thing you know—
So I’m sitting all day at a service department for my car— me and a book—
Devoid of hysteria— quite nice really

What a blessing! I’m chuckling here, but seriously, who would have thought sitting in a service dept waiting would be such a blessing? Ahh and a book, it just doesn’t get much better than that! 🙂

This time last year I would not have thought so— but today, now, if they need it all day— I’m willing to sit and wait!!!!!

I must be a particularly heinous Christian. I can’t keep anxiety from the door. The anticipation is absolutely killing me.
It’s the most important election in like…EVER!!!!
Will the U.S. remain a constitutional republic, or swing wide the doors to social communism? It’s that serious.
Nothing less than a decisive, landslide victory for capitalism will allow me any sleep at night.
And I’m a Canadian!!!

LOL! For as long as I can remember, every single US election has been the Most Important Election Ever. I get it, I’m pretty invested in this one too, but keeping some perspective really matters. We’ve been through a couple of world wars, the Great Depression, the rise of nuclear weapons, the cold war. In America, we’re always on the brink of complete destruction, headed for total collapse. But I have great faith in the American people. All will be well. 🙂

I remember vividly the day JFK was shot. I was 14. They let us out of school early and I remember walking home wondering if it was the the beginning of the end of the world. For me it was ‘the day the music died’.
