I’ve just been singing the blues lately! Not really, I don’t even sing, but I’ve been marinating in this delightful band called, “Vintage Explosion.” Here they are doing, “A Change is Going to Come.”
Ahh, that voice. So good.
I really like unusual things, odd juxtapositions. So here we have some Scottish guys singing the blues from another time, another era, another part of the world. Perfect.
Recently I ran into a couple of Russians, painters, and their English was so thick, we just could not communicate at all. One of them actually pulled a cross out from beneath his shirt and clear as a bell said, “amazing grace.” Oh my goodness, it was so sweet I had to fight back tears. We suddenly had a connection, something in common, no language skills required. Finally his friend quite wisely handed me his phone to read, which had translated, “where is the bathroom?”
So there you go, I have confessed to my latest Russian collusion. Clearly these two were my brothers from another mother.
In other news, it seems as if Elon Musk has purchased Twitter for real. I’ve noticed some huge changes already, like suddenly people I used to read have reappeared in my reader. I can see people’s comments. I have a few followers again. It started to make me mad because it really demonstrated how bad the censorship and shadow banning has been, and how we have been forced to kind of just suck it up and ignore it. I didn’t even realize how bad it was until it started to go away. Arrggg. To compensate, some of the outrage has been amusing to watch. People are acting like a six year old having a tantrum in the candy store because other people are now allowed to exist.
I once told a dumb joke on social media, someone said their hair was on fire and I said, “if your rear end was on fire you could be a politician.” Liar, liar, pants on fire. Boom, I was instantly guilty of misinformation, microaggression, election interference, and probably a threat to public health, too. Sheesh, we do not need our speech policed and micro-managed, especially not when all manner of really obscene stuff is allowed, even promoted and supported.
There is an election coming up next week and a lot of fear, a lot of uncertainty. There is talk of possible diesel shortages, which would be unsettling. It would mean empty shelves, perhaps gas shortages. Elections are important, they have consequences. However, I just want to say, every single election in my lifetime has been dire, a matter of life and death, as in, oh my goodness we’re all going to die. Some of us call it the “silly season,” as in there will be relentless fear mongering and empty promises. I just want to offer a reality check that won’t bounce, so the phrase, “this is the most important election of our lifetime” was being said before I was even born.
If I had the time, I’d go collect some screenshots to prove it. We have always said, “this is the most important election of our lifetime.”
That said, there are 3 pretty remarkable women running for office here in the 9th circuit of hell, who I’m cheering for. I’ve met them all and they are just amazing. I’m a-praying, it would just be a huge change for the good. Either way, I’m really grateful to have been able to bear witness to their campaigns, their boldness, their hope, their perseverance.

I agree, but with the exception that the hyperbole surrounding this election might be true. With the revelations about DHS, The White House and The FBI circumventing free speech by colluding with tech giants, we really need a red wave to expose and expel a true attack on democracy.

You might be right, Rob! Philosophically however, we’ve always had to deal with these kind of issues. The FBI, the CIA, have often been used for political purposes. The red scare, congress going after alleged communists like Lucille Ball, the alphabet people spying on John Lennon and MLK, the Iran/Contra affair. We have a long history of corruption, of people trying to circumvent our democracy.

I think that the red scare is still going on with Hillary. Everyone she disagrees with is a Russian. 😀

Change can be very good and I sure hope the Red Wave prevails. California is lost but your state of Washington stands a good chance of replacing the God awful Patty Murray with a common sense Republican which gives me hope . I hear Oregon too may have an R governor, the first time in a zillion years.
The censorship thing is really huge, much bigger I think than we all knew. What’s coming out now is disturbing if not surprisingly. As more and more awfulness gets exposed, the teeth gnashing and wailing will increase to unbearable levels. I’ll be the one up front with the popcorn as this plays out.

It would pretty amazing if Patty Murray was replaced! She has been running pro-Biden ads where she says she will never leave him like other people are doing. “The one thing people can count on from me, I will always stand behind Joe Biden.” They are very weird ads.

I have been enjoying the temper tantrums probably way more than I should. Reminds me of my kids when each was two and had temper tantrums banging their heads on the floor and me telling them it is your head hurt it if you want to. My daughter banged her head to hard and started crying for real I asked her did that hurt? She nodded and I asked are you going to stop now? She nodded yes so sometimes you can knock sense into yourself if you bang your head hard enough.
The problem with these people in my opinion is they were appeased as children way too much and not disciplined near enough.
The only thing appeasing temper tantrums does is tell them if they throw one long enough they will get what they want. I am not about to appease them and I find it rather humorous that they are adults behaving like two year olds. I hope they all leave Twitter and they can all leave the U.S. too would probably be more peaceful if they did, but we both know they aren’t leaving either one because they get too much attention and even if it is negative it is attention after all.
Let us pray this election puts them back in their place.

I’m probably enjoying the tantrums more than I should be, too! It’s not my fault, most of it looks like satire or comedy and I keep thinking, surely you can’t be serious?

I don’t really see it happening. We might win an election here or there, but the first ‘Red Wave’ in 1994 sold out Reagan and the second in 2010 sold out Trump. The only major election that the GOP has won since 2016 was the Virginia Governor and that guy is a Bush toady/Neocon with an Affirmative-Action Lt. Gov.
Above the local level, the Right has no plan for dealing with any issues of any consequence. They’ll just do what they’ve always done and keep kowtowing to Wall Street while they throw out a lot of publicity stunts to divert attention from their failures to take any action.

Yay, someone even more cynical then I am. 🙂
There are some good people at the local level, one problem being even if they do win, will they have the backing and support of the party bigwigs? Do the R’s even understand there is an addiction epidemic, homelessness, broken families, a crashing economy?

The Oregon Governor race is a good example. The GOP Establishment wrote Oregon off as a ‘Blue State’ and Drazan ran for governor because nobody else wanted to do it. She’s been addressing real issues like the situation in Portland and the terrible environment for small businesses and families—and has so far been winning on that message alone.
Nationwide, though, things like the drug crisis, homelessness, strong families, and small businesses don’t even factor into top issues. Neither does abortion, educational reform, or corruption in the legal system. All that they can seem to do is blame the Democrats, immigrants, and China (not necessarily in that order). 30 years of the Bush Machine hasn’t taught them anything.

I’ve been looking over my ballot for next Tuesday, and it seems the vast majority of candidates are women. Interesting …
I like your joke. I have been thinking for a long time that if I write a blog post about politicians and their lies, the title would be “Doesn’t that Hurt Your Butt?!”

Ha! Good blog title.
I have also noticed how many of those in the fight seem to be women. I have some mixed feelings about that. A friend of mine kind of snapped at someone joking about how she should run for office. She already has small children, a job, a farm, and her hands are full. It feels a bit like throwing women out on the front lines and saying, good luck, I hope you get this mess all cleaned up.

I’m praying for Texas, too! It’s tough when you get an influx of out of towners. Every darn time they tend to start voting in the precise same stuff that caused them to leave their own state in the first place.

Peaceful revolutions can happen relatively quickly, but if they happen too quickly they create confusion, which creates its own problems.
We will most likely throw out some Democrats in this election, and we will probably increase the number of serious Conservatives in Congress, but we need to capture the White House to do real damage to The Establishment. That means we have to sustain the momentum in 2024.
The significance of what is going on in places like Washington state and New York is that we have a chance of capturing the majority of the governments that the Constitution says have the real power in this country, the state governments. To keep the Federal Government under control in the long run, we need to amend the Constitution. That means we have to capture three quarters of the state legislatures. That is doable, but we probably will need multiple elections.
The real key, however, is changing the hearts of the people of this country. Only our Lord can do that. We need an awakening, a revival. To do our part, we must pray and spread the Gospel, and we must thank God, knowing that whatever happens it will be for the best.

Despite appearances, God is fully in control of what happens in our government. Perhaps if all of us prayed for the success of the three candidates you mentioned we would see some changes for the better.
