I have 3 laptops in various shades of disrepair all duct taped together and they have simply become irredeemable, so I have one coming next week. Seriously, life is too short for this nonsense. You should have a chuckle picturing me with an old bluetooth keyboard because none of my keyboards work, trying to type onto a machine with no screen so I can’t even see what I am doing. And of course the whole mess is festooned with extension cords because we haven’t had a functioning battery in years.
So bear with me.

I can totally relate. My laptop is going on seven years old and is already a relic. Most of the keys have been obliterated over the years. It’s a good thing I still know how to type and where the home bar is.

Right? I haven’t got any letters on my keys, either. I’m not sure I even remember how to type properly. Today I just do a 3 finger stab and point, but my speed is pretty good.

I relate, too. While I procrastinated on replacing my laptop that couldn’t type the letter C, I messed with spelling words without the C and waiting for spellcheck to guess what word I was going for. If it couldn’t get it, I would copy and paste the C from the word it did give me and go from there. I was getting pretty good at it, too, until I realized how utterly ridiculous it was.

Ha! I’ve been doing that for a while now and it really is silly! Even if people haven’t got much money, there are always refurbished laptops that are pretty inexpensive, way cheaper then trying to buy a tank of gas. 🙂

For me, it was more laziness than stinginess. Then I realized that procrastinating was a lot more time-consuming work than just DOING IT.

“festooned”
This is one of my favorite words. I’m pleased to see you build a whole post around it.

Yes, I’ll have to remember that one. So much more poetic than “a tangled mess of cords.” 😉

YGTBSM! For those who are not familiar, that stands for “You’ve Gotta Be Shitting Me!”
Try a bit of Old school – A tower PC, w/ solid state hard drive and a 1 terrabyte external hard drive back up; keep all but frequently used stuff in the external to save space on the main drive.

Ha! I kind of miss my real computer. It was nice to just switch out components. I once put a new hard drive in and fixed the whole thing. 😊

They make some really nice laptops now. One is Asus TUF gaming laptop and as much as I did having a tower and all of that in the past we live in a small apartment and there is no room for a tower PC. We have two laptops one is mine there other is my man’s work laptop. I use a 1 terrabyte external hard drive since I am a photographer I keep all my photos there. I started using that in 2011 when I was in college for web design and graphic design and still haven’t come close to filling it up. I always recommend external hard drives to people.

I can totally relate my former laptop took at least 30 minutes to boot up and then getting it to do anything else was such a pain I literally stopped blogging until I got a new one. The one I have now is a gaming laptop and I wanted it for its speed not to play games though my man uses it for games sometimes. It is an Asus TUF laptop. I have always loved Asus as a brand they make great computers.
Your world will be much brighter with a new laptop. I wish you the best always.

Ha! I also really like Asus. We must be related! I mostly just write, so I don’t really need a good gaming computer, just a tough keyboard.

Carey Holzman and Anthony Remis both like Asus. When they say “Asus” it sounds like “Jesus” pronounced in Spanish.

I mostly write too, but after a laptop that moved at the speed of frozen molasses I wanted one with speed so I can research and write too. They have tough keyboards too. Yes, we must be related, but then Asus is a really good brand.

Ha! Ask and you shall receive! Since you are my simple living friend, I actually managed to get a great deal on one that had some damaged packaging and can’t be restocked. Even better, someone sweet just gave me a coffee gift card, so I think I’ve actually come out ahead! 😊

Insaniybytes,
The laptop computer keys wear out way faster than the old type keyboards
.
I experienced what you are now going through and finally figured out the best cheapest fix is to go to a Target and buy a $25 logitech keyboard which can be plugged in to your computer port.
Even better get a mouse with it and use a mouse to scroll easier and faster.
I jury rigged an old plate to cover up on top of the broken computer keyboard so I can scroll easier and believe the logitech old style keyboard is easier to use.
Regards and goodwill blogging.

Thank you! Yes, I think that is a great idea. Laptops usually don’t have the best keyboards, especially after a few years of pounding on them. 😊
