There are some people who believe the moon landing was faked and not all are crazy either. There’s some fairly intelligent arguments to be made. As conspiracies go however, it is not my first priority. I’m still trying to figure out who shot JFK.
I joke about the moon landing a lot, mostly because my mother believes it was faked…..that and Charles Manson was framed. I learned very young that if my mother believed something, the precise opposite was probably true. Irrational way to arrive at a conclusion I suppose, but I am now fairly certain the moon landing really happened and Manson is genuinely a psychopath.
I did miss this bit of information about the moon landing however, and found it kind of interesting. The first thing Buzz Aldrin did before setting foot on the moon was to take communion and read a chapter from John. He had brought his bread and wine all the way from his Presbyterian church near Houston where he was an elder. Buzz Aldrin radioed NASA and said these words, “I would like to request a few moments of silence … and to invite each person listening in, wherever and whomever they may be, to pause for a moment and contemplate the events of the past few hours, and to give thanks in his or her own way.”
Click the link above to read the description of how the wine curled up in the cup at zero gravity and how the church continues to celebrate lunar Sunday each July.
There was a moon landing conspiracy, a cover up that occurred, because the evidence of that event was edited out of the official story. Nasa was still reeling from a lawsuit by Madalyn Murray O’Hair, the founder of American Atheists, over the fact that the Apollo 8 crew had read the Genesis creation tale in orbit. So the entire communion event was not broadcast and not mentioned in the media.
It is rarely mentioned to this day. In fact, it has been so erased from the public consciousness, some people refuse to believe it happened at all. The truth remains however, when astronauts first went into space, God was on their mind. One can hardly leave the planet and look out at that vast array without at least contemplating the nature of the Creator.
History is always written by the victors, edited by the politics of the day, and often erased completely from the public consciousness in only one generation. Sometimes I am just astounded by what children are taught to believe and how difficult it is to show them what really happened, not that long ago, in my lifetime actually.
Sometimes the only way to comfort yourself is to plug in an old rotary phone and see how long it takes them to figure out how to dial a phone number and place a call.
*******Repost to stir up trouble in the Great Debate over whether or not people can or should do communion in cyberspace. Well, we did it once in outerspace….
