I hatz it, Christmas music. I officially and formally file a complaint in triplicate, with blue ink. You’ll have to forgive me, or not, I’m just saying don’t judge until you’ve spent the season with that falalalala 24/7 in the background yelling at you. Did you know it all has the same beat?? Seriously, it’s marching music and it all says, shop, shop, shop, shop, till you drop, drop, drop, drop…..
It doesn’t usually bother me, but this year it’s just grated on my nerves. Even my mother, vehement atheist, proclaimed the other day, “Where’s all the good music? Why should people have to go to mass just to hear Ava Maria?” Whoah, it was a chink in her armor, and indication that she at least thinks about such things. You do not have to go to mass, I have access to dozens of renditions of Ava Maria, Barbara Streisand being one my favorites, but she didn’t want to hear any of it. Too late, I am now privy to aΒ great secret, my mother likes Ava Maria. Cool, me too.
So I hatz it all this year, except, except, I’m still really loving Francesca Battiselli’s, “You’re Here.” I enjoy her voice, the definitely-not-a-Christmas-beat-tune, and the message. He is here, His presence is His present, here in the present. I don’t know why we often feel so disconnected, so separated from God Himself, but that is a deception, an illusion.Β He is here.

Well said about most holiday music but Francesca nails it … for me.

I agree! Christmas songs with substance! I’ll be addressing this topic Friday with a little advice to Christian radio station managers. π

I love the Christmas hymns, but worldly Christmas music–yuck! When my favorite station announced that they were starting wall-to-wall Christmas music the day before Thanksgiving, I changed my car radio to the classic rock station. J.

Right?! The same thing happened to me, my station went 24 hour Christmas tunes. I do have some great “oldies” going on instead. “Oldies,” sheesh, just to add insult to injury, apparently music from the 80’s is now old and classic. π

I haven’t been keeping up, but it sounds like a positive time saver to not bother. Thanks for the warning. I’ll stay with Little Drummer Boy and Jingle Bell Rock.

I always loved Jewish Babs Ave Maria β beautifulβ but I agreeβ it begins at Halloween as a type of marching orders β hence why I keep a lovely CD in my car that is of Medieval Christmas hymnsβ absolutely beautifulβ peaceful and full of contemplative blessings

Huh. I don’t get out much, so I guess I don’t get inundated with it. If I am listening to Christmas music, it’s usually by choice.
But I get what you’re saying. There’s only so many arrangements of ‘O Holy Night’s I can take before

We had a “Winter” concert where we played all this “Winter” music. Every single one of them had jingle bells in the back ground (and as a percussionist, I hatz jingle bells after the 1st song in the 1st rehearsal in October!!!!) All these songs describe snow and lights and wind and cold. How do people in California or Texas or Florida relate to that?! Oh, ya, they’re all originally from the Midwest and moved to GET AWAY FROM THAT STUFF! We once sabotaged a song because it was so insipid. I was playing trumpet at the time, and my assistant and I transposed our parts 1/2 step off what was written, so when we came in, it sounded like, um, “stuff” and the director cancelled that piece.

LOL! Great story. Yep, i remember the ” winter concerts.” Nobody really wants to celebrate being cold and wet, broken pipes, and snow on the road. That’s why everyone moved! Somebody should write a song about how winter will be staying in the mountains this year and you can just all go visit it there.π

I agree but disagree…to an extent. I – like you – get so fed up with Christmas music. THAT IS!!!! That is, until I hear one of my favorites, “Leroy the Redneck Reindeer.” Then I’s got to smile and git my toes-a-tapping.

Insanitybyte, Hello,
I’m from the Red Pill community, I saw your comments on Tomassi’s blog. I’m red pilled, but I see the narcissism in Red Pill community.
Your ideas seem pretty solid to me. Will you tell me how old are you? You can give range (i.e. young, middle-aged, old).

LOL! Give you a range?? Young, middle aged or old? Seriously? I don’t like any of those options! I am 54, been married some 30 years now. π
I stumbled onto the red pills while working in hospice care, looking after this guy who was dying, who was filled with so many regrets about his inability to love, his inability to build intimacy with women. He broke my heart. Narcissism and wounding yes, a huge problem with the red pills.
