I really appreciated John Crowder’s very timely video, “God is hell.” Hat tip to Mel for bringing it to my attention. Eastern orthodoxy to the rescue once again!
So one of the things I’ve been studying is communication gaps and divisions within the church. We have these gaps between generations, we have these fractures and divisions, and most of it is related to heart matters, to relationship dysfunction. One thing I really observe, older generations tend to just follow culture and tradition without question, whereas younger people need to know the why’s and wherefores.
There’s a real hunger for doctrine out in the world, for revelation, for theological discussion, kind of like what Crowder is doing. Opening the lines of communication, creating discussion, all so, so important.
Love it. Thanks for the video. Cueing it up now.

“older generations tend to just follow culture and tradition without question, whereas younger people need to know the why’s and wherefores.”
In this 21st century is it not fortunate that they do? We need great thinkers to take this polluted planet and the remaining life on it into the next century. It would be quite useless if the world were to just believe God will take care of everything would it not?
“There’s a real hunger for doctrine out in the world,”
I think you have it wrong; people are slowly starting to realise prayers and miracles will not change the world and fortunately they realise the head in the sand attitudes are negative to our continued existence and I just hope it is not to late.

Hey how’s it going, so I have a question that I hope we can talk about. I used to do minestry in Miami and we worked with a lot of cultural Catholics. I’m not one, but I know a lot about that groulp.
I don’t know realy anything about Eastern orthodox though, I was wondering if you could spell out some of the differences between the two.
Thank have a good one.

Hello there! I was using the term “Eastern orthodoxy” a bit tongue and cheek to describe traditions and doctrines within our faith that have not been influenced by Western culture. Crowder mentions it in some of his videos, too. Eastern orthodoxy generally believes that “hell” is a soul’s rejection of God’s freely given love.
