Today is March 14, so it is officially 3.14, Pi Day! Happy Pi Day, everyone!
If it weren’t for Pi, we’d probably all be flat, two dimensional creatures made up of squiggly lines, just scribbles really, dreaming of some day becoming stick figures.
People who believe in constant, yet irrational numbers without end, obviously live in glass houses and should not throw stones.

This post made me think of quick way to make dessert. Take a large pumpkin and carefully measure its circumference and diameter. Divide the circumference by the diameter. You now have Pumpkin Pi.

Since IB’s post is funny, I am sharing it.
Pi and other irrational numbers are for people who have lots of faith in math and science. Mathematics is a modelling tool. We can make models of things don’t exist, right? At best, mathematical models simplify the real world so we can exert a certain amount control over our environment.

In fact, it is possible to formulate a model with the earth as the center of the universe. =>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geocentric_model
It is bit more complicated, however. Since most of us are lazy, I expect that (not genius) explains the popularity of Occam’s razor => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor

Pretty sure we can’t get more traditional than pi! There’s even a pretty good argument to be made that pi is in the bible.

Just wondering why I had never heard of pi Day and realised it’s because it only happens in America because we write the date the other way around! 😁 I’m pretty sure every day is irrational here in Ireland anyway.

Ha! I never realized that. Many people do indeed write the date the other way around. No worries though, we shall be celebrating Ireland this weekend, St Patrick’s Day. The American version of Ireland anyway, and there will be more pie. 🙂

😁 the funny thing is I irrationally made pie last night without even realising the significance. Enjoy the celebrations.
