Sooo…….IB has actually been surrounded on all sides by so many stone hearts, for so, so long, sometimes one begins to feel as if they are just playing a human size game of pin ball on Easter Island. Wear a crash helmet, that’s for sure.

Today I just wanted to write about the condition of our heart, how vitally important that is. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Or another version, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Life is so, so much better if you can keep a soft heart and an open mind. Not only is that way smarter, it is kinder towards others. Our hearts are kind of like our wi/fi signal to our heavenly Father. If our hearts are bitter, hard, closed down, fearful, we won’t be able to hear Him or to feel Him.

Literally, as in even your donkey will be yelling the truth to you and you won’t be able to hear it.

Also, the condition of our heart has a huge impact on those around us. I think we have a tendency to see ourselves as an island unto ourselves, so it doesn’t really occur to us that we share the misery…….or the joy. Quite simply, if you are a jerk, hostile, angry, bitter, or perhaps whiny, weak, and self-destructive, you are like a computer virus that just keeps getting passed around and sucking the life out of everyone. Your energy will ripple out into the pond and impact us all.

It takes a lot of courage, a lot of strength to maintain a soft heart and an open mind. It ain’t for the fainthearted, let me tell you. It is far easier to embrace bitterness, cynicism, unforgiveness, hostility, anger. These are all self protective things, they keep people, and even God Himself, at arms bay, far, far,  away.

It also tends to make you stupid, self-absorbed, irrational, and mean.

I almost never ban anyone or filter comments, but the past couple of days I’ve had to  flush a whole bunch of those stone hearts, mostly evangelizing internet atheists, but not all, a couple of so-called Christians, too. Naturally the outcry among the alleged persecuted now goes something like this, “IB can’t handle my vastly superior arguments.” Not true at all, I just can’t handle comments that are so incoherent it makes me wonder if you’re three sheets to the wind again, sucking down all the cooking sherry.

So anyone calling me Hitler or trying to imply I am somehow similar in nature and character to assorted other mass murders, was obviously behaving like a potted meat product and sent to spam.

I have far more compassion for stone hearts, stone heads and those who worship their little stone gods than perhaps I should, but that all  stems from having walked in those shoes, of once having been bitter, weak, and hostile myself.

Jesus Christ heals, He came to set the captives free, and “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
