hannibal2“A day late and a dollar short” is NOT a bit of wisdom from Proverbs 22, it is actually the story of my life. Also, I am quite sick and tired of people at the moment and teh stoopid threatens to engulf me once again. I seem to have one nerve left and I appear to be hanging from it. So perhaps it is for the best that I have fallen behind and did not let Hannibal Lecter lead us through Proverbs 22, although I must say, that  might be more entertaining.

Proverbs 22 begins, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” I quite agree. That is true, however it is a truism that is very hard to hang onto in a world that is rapidly crumbling. A good name will likely get you………resentment from others who who will feel compelled to tarnish it, followed up by a life of poverty and obscurity. If however, you simply shoot holes through a laptop and post the video on you tube, people will like you much better and it will probably go viral.

Verse two gives us, “The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all.” Another truism, although there does seem to be some doubt recently, on both sides  of the aisle really. Probably yet another symptom of a crumbling world.

Verse three offers, “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” Another way of saying that is, “take cover!” I kid you not, when I was a teen, I was with this boy, there were gunshots, I yelled “take cover,” and he began to argue with me, “don’t tell me what to do,” “you’re not the boss of me,”etc, etc.  A shot did hit a tree about  8 ft from his head and I got to learn about how incredibly stubborn and stupid people can be. All’s well that ends well, I suppose. Wisdom suggests you hide first, argue later, but whatever.

I really like Proverbs 22:17, “Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.” The problem being it is incredibly challenging trying to find a wise man these days. Don’t bow down thine ear to fools.

For those who don’t know if I’m serious about Hannibal Lecter, it seems as if I I do  pay tribute to his mask by often wearing it on my feet,so there is that…..
