My peeve of the day is internet culture, social media, and blogging, specifically the rampant unkindness and outright hostility of many on-line Christians.
I know, I know, why would anyone listen to a, “demented and delusional total outright rebellious heretic” such as myself? Yeah, that’s exactly the kind of thing I’m talking about. That’s not discernment, it’s actually just called verbal abuse.
I do fight back sometimes. Sometimes I do snap at people. I get tired of being attacked. Blogging is hard enough without all the relentless abuse.
Nobody is saved because of their powerful on-line discernment ministry. Nobody gets extra credit points for metaphorically casting people out of the body of Christ. In theory we’re supposed to be inviting people in. I really thought Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
There is an incredible lack of kindness on the internet sometimes. It concerns me. This is what people see when they think of the Body of Christ, judgment, criticism, abuse, bullies, and endless self-righteousness.
This is what my children often see when they watch us interact with one another.
We are the feral children. I’ve long been on a campaign to get us to act more like grown ups used to. Just saying.
