It’s my birthday today, although I often need to take the whole month to celebrate. That’s become my thing, remembering to take the time everyday to celebrate life, to celebrate having been born.
Even better if I can invite the One who “knit me together” and “fashioned my heart” into those moments of celebration.
My kid posted a picture my dad drew of me so long ago, right before I disappeared from his life. Those were years of separation, injustice, grief, a season of sadness that impacts me to this day. God is faithful however, He heals, He restores, He replaces what has been stolen, tenfold.
He has done huge work in our family, there have been generational curses broken, there was healing and restoration, fun and good times before my dad passed away, and he died with his faith firmly planted in Jesus Christ. I take great comfort in that, because some messes I just take one look at and think, abandon hope all ye who enter here. Just burn it down, this mess is too big, too hopeless, not even the Creator of the universe could fix this. Not true at all, God can fix anything.
Does anyone remember those really short dresses with the frilly underwear? I’m laughing here, but today I love long dresses for that very reason. Fashion from the 60’s and 70’s needs to die a slow and tortuous death. What were we all thinking?

Happy birthday! Yes, fashion from the late 60s was terrible. Mini-skirts and culottes. Of course, back then as girls we thought nothing of it, but today–oh my! You look at yearbooks in the 50s and before and everyone was dressed like ladies and gentlemen.

Haha, funny story about those short dresses and frilly, elastic bloomers… I was about 6, wearing one of those, and my mom sat me down on a fire ant mound without noticing. When she did notice, she started whacking those little devils off as fast as she could. Miraculously, though, I didn’t get a single bite. Why? Partially because God is good, and partially because those bloomers sealed off the area of contact. Hooray! We still laugh about it. 🙂 However, I will not ever wear one again, nor hopefully ever force my possible daughters to wear one. 🙂

Happy birthday Memi! Sorry I am late. My oldest son’s birthday is August 3rd. My Dad’s is August 27th!
Also, separate topic. Our church has a new interim pastor. He preached a sermon that spoke directly the false accusations against me by the church, so he inspired me to reach out the the church yet again, to ask them to submit to the Word.
Please send up some prayers for success on these efforts, in response to the new pastor’s sermon!
The sermon was called “Holy, Holy, Holy” 8/6/2017, it can be found here:

It was a good sermon! I pray you get some good leadership and find some allies there.

Thanks again Memi! My hope is that the Elders will pick up on the idea that their sense of sin is missing, with regard to the false and dissproven “abuse” accusations, in play, and that they would submit to the clear instruction of The Word, and essentially discipline themselves for their error, as The Word of our Holy God requires!
1 Timothy 5
19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. 20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning. 21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
Thanks for the thoughts on patience. It’s harder than it looks, but our planet has the unfortunate distinction of having God show up here, in the Flesh, only so we could kill Him because He told the truth.
He was patient with His bride, the church. I will never do as well as He did, yet I am obligated by His example, not to do any less, for my bride and His.
I see you doing the same with the burdens you bear Memi! Thanks for your witness! ; – )

I pray for a good spiritual epiphany, Adad! That would be so healing for everyone. When we have done wrong by someone, especially someone in our own church “family,” it’s so important to repent.
I’ve been startled a few times by unrepentant sin, by wounds left open in churches I’ve walked into. Without even knowing the people, you can sense it just sitting there, you can feel it. God is Holy indeed, and your pastor did well to speak of how it must begin in our churches. We can’t reach the culture at large until we ourselves learn to live our faith and to walk it.
I know I would not hold up under those conditions as well as you have. May God give you lots of His grace and peace.
