Ever met a pharisee? I have not in real life, not really. Perhaps I’ve spotted one at a parade a few times, but oh good grief have I met them on the internet! Thousands of them! It’s like trying to play pharisee whack-a- mole.
Our pastor made me laugh last week and solved all my problems for me, too. He asked that same question, ever met a pharisee? I think about half of us were thinking, oh yeah, you betcha.
No, we haven’t. Not a single one of us. They’re all dead now. Dead for thousands of years. Only Jesus lives.
I’ve been chuckling about that all week. Dead, dead as a doornail. Only Jesus lives. He beat the pharisees and is now seated in victory at the right hand of the Father.
Keep your eyes on the One who lives.
Don’t be a pharisee, they’re all dust now.
I know, my bad, but I just keep thinking dead, all dead, and it cracks me up. That’s so simple and obvious and yet it’s a concept that completely eluded me. Go pastor.
Matthew 8:22 keeps coming to mind, “But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.”

Everybody thinks the Pharisee is the other guy.
I suggest looking in the mirror for a close-up look at a Pharisee.

Reminds me the old Don Francisco song…”Everybody else but me…He was talking to the hypocrites and Pharisees, everybody else but me… Everybody sing! 🙂

First time commentator. Been enjoying your blog for awhile now.
I was thinking about this verse in relation to modern Pharisees, though I get you are saying there aren’t any. It seems like a good thing to say when you face some of the tangled-fishing-line thought-messes you encounter these days.

A hydrogen atom has less mass than the combined masses of the proton and the electron that make it up.
