Recently I was watching some hilarious baptismal videos, children mostly, possessing an exuberance and enthusiasm for both Jesus and the water. Cannonballs into a pool that left the pastor and the front row drenched. A little guy in a river so proud of his ability to swim, he alarms everyone by taking off underwater and doing several somersaults. It all had me rolling on the floor.

Our pastor did not know I had just seen all of those videos, so I was quite delighted when he spoke of living water and asked, “Have you gotten anyone wet this week?”

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.-John 7:38

Oh, a big amen to that! Have you enthusiastically and exuberantly splashed the living water of your faith all over the front row? Have you done a cannonball? Do you allow rivers of living water to flow from you? Drenched anybody in the goodness of the Lord lately?

I suppose we should not all be doing cannonballs into the baptismal, but we should be in our hearts, in our minds and spirits, and our enthusiasm should drench the front row, our excitement should be infectious, our delight should be child-like. That is Salvation.

And at the end of the day we should return to our Father’s arms, exhausted, sunburnt, with pruney fingers and blue toes, and He shall say, well-played kid, well-played indeed.

Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation. -Isaiah 12:3
