Ah, the paranoia of the intertoobz. I shouldn’t have to say it, but I shall anyway. I am not CIA,  not law enforcement, do not work for the government, nor am I a  Russian troll. If I were, somebody owes me a whole lot of back pay. I do rather like playing Natasha on the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show however, so that’s something.

You may wonder what triggers this. Well, I was researching Gina Haspel, Trump’s appointee to the CIA, discussing it, and commenting on a couple of blogs. Those top secret, covert, communications of mine where then copied and pasted into a discussion speculating who I was really working for.

I jest about the “top secret covert” part because they are public comments made right next to my avatar, so probably not so covert and hidden after all. Not particularly interesting comments either, just along the lines of “hmm, we shall have to keep an eye on her.” Keeping an eye on the CIA, a somewhat amusing idea I’m sure, but obviously I meant in terms of job performance, policy, politics, and not a literal spy mission.

I’d go running about and proclaiming my innocence, but if I were actually a top secret undercover agent man, isn’t that exactly what you’d expect me to do? Or I could just confess, you have caught me, you have totally blown my cover….

Speaking of being owed back pay however, this tale annoyed the heck out of me. I have not researched it properly nor verified the sources, it simply went through my news feed and I thought, now isn’t that the darndest thing?

House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs Committee Members Compromised By Rogue IT Staff

In essence it says, “Brothers Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday.”  Sheesh, one guy is 22 yrs old, another has a criminal record, and they are all paid nearly 3 times what they should be, like $165,000 a year. Hired to do IT work for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, among others. Well, that was really brilliant. What could possibly go wrong there?

I would be more than happy to become one of your Rogue IT staffers for less than half the wage. It fits in really well with my never ending mission to try to help protect stupid people from the nature of their own selves.
