Jesus, Jesus Christ is the answer to everything. Just read the instruction manual, He explains everything. 🙂
But I wanted to speak to something else I have learned. The answer to all impertinent questions like, “what do you want to be when you grow up,” is “Honoring God.”
Why are you still single?
Because I’m honoring God.
“What’s your calling in life?”
Honoring God.
“Why are you getting married?”
Because I’m honoring God.
“Are you finally going to do something useful with yourself now that the kids are growing up?”
Uh yeah, I’ll be honoring God.
“A water pipe has broken and the kitchen is flooded, what are you going to do about it?”
Honor God.
“How do you fix your marriage?”
By honoring God.
“What do you do when your grown kids get all lost?”
Honor God.
Adam was actually made to commune with God. His job was to honor God. We are called to be human be-ings not human do-ings. We aren’t actually supposed to “do” anything, in the sense that our help is not needed beyond honoring God.
It’s a bit tragic, we had one job, and we still managed to mess that up in the Garden of Eden, in a perfect paradise. Jesus Christ with His gift of grace reminds us that our job is simply to honor God. God Himself does the heavy lifting.
I have been plagued much of my life by a million different questions, many of them designed to instill some fear, anxiety, or panic as if I must do something or else…. doom. Many of these questions have actually revolved around things I have absolutely no power to fix, not on my own anyway. 99% of them have eventually resolved their own selves without my help.
Honoring God in any given situation becomes a real art form, and sometimes the act of honoring Him involves certain tasks, but I try to keep in mind that these tasks are more like the tasks we give small children to help them feel good about themselves, like they are a part of the family, “helping.”
It’s humbling and it may not sound like much, but honoring God is actually a full-time job, one some people have actually lost their lives doing, so it’s nothing to sneeze at. It’s a lot of hard work, and some of it involves letting the Great Potter get His hands on you and mold you into something He finds pleasing.
“What are you going to do about it?”
Just honor God in new and inventive ways.

New years resolutions, there’s another good one that often demands we “do” something. Ha! Do something, like fail to live up to our own resolutions? That’s what I used to do. Honoring God is a much better goal for me. Does it honor God? Then do it.

Love this❤️ all we have to do honor God and he will take care of the rest. Our complex minds don’t seem to understand the simplicity of such a concept and that’s what got the human race in trouble in the first place. Be still and know that He is God.

Reblogged this on Truth in Palmyra and commented:
Colossians 3:23
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Romans 11:36
“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.”
Quite simple, really
As stated, it’s all in the instruction manual

Just honor God in new and inventive ways. Thank you. I recently heard a preaching that pointed out how graceful it will be to always answer every question with God’s word.

Great perspective on life! Every true believer should be duly inspired to follow suit.
Sadly, many people have the SAME sincere desire to “honor God” but have dedicated themselves to the WRONG concepts and identification of GOD. The tragedy we witness all too regularly these days of misguided (yet sincerely committed) suicide bombers, on one extreme – to incredible altruism devoutly demonstrated by followers of false religions – requires a serious consideration of personal beliefs and convictions.
“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified” – 2Cor. 13:5.
Jesus Himself was quite concerned that those who HONOR Him do so in TRUTH, and RIGHTLY identify HIM.
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and TRUTH” – Jn. 4:24.
He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?’ So they said, ‘Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ He said to them, ‘But who do YOU say that I am?” – Mt. 16:13-15.
To RIGHTLY ‘honor’ God, we must abide by the revelations that God has given about Himself, otherwise “honor’ is merely idol-worship in masquerade.
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day” – Jn. 6:44.

Yes, I agree with you that honouring God is the answer to everything. That was Paul’s emphasis when he said “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father” (Colossians 3:17). This answers all the questions we’ll ever ask ourselves. You’re deeply loved, highly favoured and greatly blessed.

I have been working on something that is in a very similar vein. You speak my language on so many levels with so many of your posts, but you have a true gift for expressing it. Seriously.
