Moses is a total basket case.
Did you hear that woman has five husbands?
Can any good thing come from Nazareth?
I heard Sarah actually knows about the affair!
Can you believe that fool is actually building an ark?
We all know where Miriam got those white spots.
Hosea’s wife sure is a piece of work.
I heard that one likes to bathe naked on her balcony.
You stopped too soon. If I were preaching, I would have gone to town with that convicting truth.

LOL! It seems as if we ourselves often “go to town” with that convicting truth.

That little quote about experience? That’s why OJT is so expensive.

“Good judgment comes from experience, and experience — well, that comes from poor judgment”. It seems this is attributed to A.A. Milne. I think it’s an attempt at wit, but it is not accurate as experience is like history, it is constantly happening. This quote is appreciated by many because poor judgment often causes bad experiences, and some people then learn to make good judgments. Presumably, a more careful analysis of the quote will lead to the recognition that many experiences are not, in fact, the result of poor judgment.
I much prefer the following quote that is attributed to Will Rogers (I cannot find a date for either quote to determine which was first):
“Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.”

Well, there is certainly something to be said for those who are willing to learn from the bad experiences of others.
😉
I like Will Rogers too. He is definitely worth quoting.

Very amusing IB = it is always fun to make Biblical characters more human – for truly it is their humanity that is so important. Ha! I heard a particularly good preacher once who did this really well. He said:”Imagine if your teenage daughter came home one day and announced she was pregnant and there was no boy involved. What would you reaction be ? Yeah, Right! Who is he?” And he went on to explain that Jesus was a common name in those days, much like “Bob” is these days. So this teenager who is pregnant and swears she didn’t have sex (Riiiiight), is now announcing that she had a dream and she is to call the baby “Bob”. He continued through the story of Jesus like this it was really well done and made the story very personal

How delightful, Paul! I love the pastors that can take scripture, apply it to modern times, and inject the human element. They bring the whole tale alive and make it real.
A bit sad however, I’ve also learned that people haven’t changed much in a few thousand years. As a religious mob, we’d crucify Jesus Christ all over again if He showed up. On the bright side, it’s not the Lamb that comes back this time, but rather the Lion.

The people God choses to love, to redeem, and to use to accomplish his will in the world… what a troop of losers, yet more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. J.
